About our Family
In 1960 Dimitris “Jim” Geanekos opened his restaurant Jim’s Coffee Shop. At the time, it was a to go counter and later he was able to expand it into the full service restaurant that it is today. Jim immigrated to the United States from Greece, and he was able to find community in Alameda, eventually passing on the business to his son Tom, who now runs it and the sister location, Jim’s on the Course. We have been lucky enough to serve the Alameda community for the last 60 years and hope to continue to do so for the next 60.
